Risk Management of Emerging Compounds and Pathogens in the Water Cycle (RiSKWa)

Water as livelihood is increasingly exposed to pollutants and pathogens as well as climatic and demographic changes. As a result risks for water quality have to be identified, revaluated and they have to be integrated in management concepts.

As a result the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) initiated the funding measure „Risk Management of Emerging Compounds and Pathogens in the Water Cycle (RiSKWa)“ with a funding volume of 31 million Euro.
Within 5 years 12 joint research projects with more than 90 actors representing science, industry, society and authorities developed innovative technologies and concepts for the risk management of emerging compounds and pathogens towards a preventive environmental and health protection based on a application-oriented approach. more (URL: _media/RISKWA_Praxishandbuch.pdf)
